Poor Numbers in Addis Ababa, Edinburgh, Oxford, London and Helsinki

My first stop on a trip where I stop to give a talk in Edinburgh, look sit on a panel in Oxford, ask give a presentation at the DFID economist conference in London, and finally present a new paper at a conference in Helsinki, is Addis Ababa. I have been invited to give the opening talk for a meeting of the  “Continental Steering Committee (CSC) for the African Project on the Implementation of the 2008 SNA”.  It will be interesting to sit in on the discussions of the senior statisticians from many African countries and get their views on what they see as the most important challenges in providing better data for development. It is hosted by UNECA, who organize a lot of these kinds of efforts.
