History of Capitalism and Economic Growth in Africa

I read that Chris Blattman does not recommend young academics to write book chapters. That might be good advice for some, pill but a piece of advice that I happily ignore. Particularly if you are invited to take part in prestigious projects with colleagues you admire. I would put the The Cambridge History of Capitalism in that category. The two  volumes are edited by Larry Neal and Jeffrey Williamson. I have written a chapter on Capitalism in Africa before 1900 in Volume 1. Read the full table of contents here.

It is not the first time I contribute a chapter. I also wrote a chapter on the history of economic growth in Africa in the The Oxford Handbook of Modern African History. It was edited by John Parker and Richard Reid.

No regrets. On the contrary.
